A new study has shown how living a healthy lifestyle by eating right, working out and not smoking or consuming alcohol can reduce your risk of dementia, even if you carry genes that pre-dispose you to the condition. The risk was lowered by 32% in those who had a higher risk of the disease due to genetics.
A 2017 study found that drinking at least one artificially sweetened beverage a day nearly triples the risk of developing a stroke or dementia. Another thing to avoid is anticholinergic drugs as they have found nearly a 50% increase odds of dementia in middle age and senior patients who have been exposed to these drugs later in life.
